Immediate Release
The Character Group plc
Statement re: Share Price Movement
The Board of The Character Group plc has noted the recent rise in the share
price.
Although the Board is not aware of any single new factor, it believes that
recent trade press coverage regarding the release of several new products
including Doctor Who, Roboraptor and Electronic Sudoku has been very positive
about the prospects for sales of these ranges in the all important run up to
Christmas.
In addition, the first deliveries of 12inch soft bodied talking dolls of the
characters from Little Britain have just been made to certain Clintons Gift
shops with first indications more than meeting our expectations. The range of
Little Britain merchandise will be imminently increased by the addition of
talking mugs, glassware, 3D and talking key-rings.
The Group's profile has been heightened amongst the investment community as a
result of these new product ranges and their possible affect on earnings in the
current financial year ending 31 August 2006.
Whilst the Board is encouraged by the acceptance by the trade of our new product
range introductions, as well as early consumer demand for our product ranges,
both old and new, it is far too early to predict their impact on the Group's
overall performance in this new financial year.
