FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2 July 2004
ELEKTRON PLC
(the 'Company' or 'Elektron')
Proposed transfer of assembly operations
Posting of Report and Accounts to Shareholders
Elektron, the AIM quoted components and electronics group, announces that
following the acquisition of the business and assets of Arcolectric in December
2003, management has completed its review of the costs and capabilities of the
group's manufacturing plants in the UK, China and Tunisia. As a result of this
review, a proposal is being considered to transfer the Bulgin UK assembly
operations to Tunisia and/or China. This proposal would involve a significant
number of redundancies at the Company's assembly operations in Barking. The
timetable for the transfer of operations is currently being finalised but it is
envisaged that the transfer process would be completed during the Company's
current financial year.
The Company announces today that it has posted its Report and Accounts for the
year ending 31 January 2004 to its shareholders.
Copies of the Report & Accounts are available from the offices of Elektron Plc,
Alfreds Way, Barking, Essex IG11 0AZ for a period of 30 days from the date
hereof.
