CHEMRING GROUP PLC ANNOUNCES NEW
US NAVY ORDER
Chemring Group's US subsidiary, Alloy Surfaces, has won a US Navy contract
valued at US$9.9 million with deliveries over the next year.
The order is for the supply of covert Special Materials Decoys (SMD), a decoy
developed by Alloy Surfaces. The SMD is designed to protect fighters,
helicopters and transport aircraft against attack by Infra Red guided missiles
fired by ground forces or air-to-air missiles fired from enemy fighter
aircraft.
David Evans, Chemring's Chief Executive, commented:
'Chemring's success in winning this US Navy contract underpins our
pre-eminent position as a leading global Infra Red advanced countermeasures
supplier. These products are essential for the protection of valuable
military platforms for most of the major nations. The order is further
evidence of the growth in Chemring's Countermeasures business.'
