Resignation of a Non-Executive Director

The City of London Investment Trust plc hereby gives notification that Mr A C Russell is resigning from the Board with effect from today's date.  

Following his appointment as Chief Executive of Shire plc, Angus Russell, who joined The City of London Investment Trust PLC in 2003, is spending considerably more of his time in North America.

The Board wishes to thank Angus for his excellent contribution and wise counsel.
