Appointment of New Non-Executive Director

The City of London Investment Trust plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Simon Barratt as a non-executive director to the Board with effect from Friday 1 October 2010. 

Simon de Zoete, Chairman of The City of London Investment Trust said:  "Simon Barratt, who is General Counsel and Company Secretary at Whitbread PLC, will bring highly valuable commercial knowledge and experience to the Board".

In accordance with paragraphs 9.6.13 (1) to (6) of the Listing Rules, it is confirmed that there are no additional details to be disclosed in relation to Mr Barratt.
