Annual General Meeting held on 24 October 2011

The City of London Investment Trust plc announces that at the Annual General Meeting held today all resolutions proposed were duly passed, four of which were special resolutions, including resolutions that a general meeting may be called on not fewer than 14 clear days' notice, and to authorise the Company to make market purchases of its own ordinary shares up to a maximum of 14.99% (equivalent to 34,411,024 ordinary shares) at a maximum price per share (exclusive of expenses) not exceeding 105% of the average middle market quotations for the five business days preceding the date of purchase.

The Company also announces the retirement from the Board of Simon de Zoete with effect from the close of today's Annual General Meeting.   The Board would like to thank Simon for his valued contribution to the Company.  Philip Remnant is the new Chairman of the Board.
