TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc announces that it has today purchased 39,575 ordinary shares at an average price of 517 pence. The highest and lowest price paid for these shares were 518 pence and 512.5 pence respectively. The purchased shares will all be held as treasury shares for the purpose of satisfying option grants and share awards made under the Company's employee share plans.

Following the purchase of these shares, Close Brothers Group plc holds 5,721,044 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 143,752,122 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
