TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc (the 'Company') announces that on 2 November 2011 it transferred 2,051 ordinary shares of 25 pence each from treasury to participants in its employee share plans. For 759 of these shares, the transfer price was 428 pence and for the remaining 1,292 shares, the transfer price was £nil.

Following the transfer of these shares, the Company holds 4,342,173 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 146,218,295 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
