TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc announces that it has today purchased 107,500 ordinary shares at an average price of 1430.9419 pence.  The highest and lowest price paid for these shares was 1448 pence and 1429 pence, respectively. The shares purchased will all be held as treasury shares for the purpose of satisfying option grants and share awards made under the Company's employee share plans.

Following the purchase of these shares, Close Brothers Group plc holds 1,104,504 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 149,530,333 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
