("Pinnacle" or the "Company")
Pinnacle Telecom Group plc (AIM: PINN) the AIM listed provider of cloud technology based telecommunications solutions, announces that it has been awarded the contract to provide the voice and data connectivity for the BBC coverage of the UK local elections, which will take place on the 5th May 2011.
Voters across the UK will be asked if they want to change the current first-past-the-post system for electing MPs in favour of the Alternative Vote. Pinnacle will provide the connectivity at 100 locations, enabling the BBC to broadcast voice transmissions for BBC Radio and BBC TV across the UK. In Scotland, voters will elect 129 members of the Scottish Parliament. In Wales, voters will elect 60 members of the National Assembly of Wales. In Northern Ireland, voters will elect 108 members of the Northern Ireland Assembly as well as 582 local councillors. In England, voters will elect around 9,300 councillors.
The Company is seeking to acquire and grow the four main elements of traditional telephony, hosted cloud based services, IT support and data centres. A particular target area is data centres, where the combination of recurring revenue and a platform to expand our hosted cloud based services, would create a compelling earnings enhancing proposition. A strategic acquisition in this area would potentially be transformational and we are widening our search parameters"
