Successful trial of Super Wireless High-Speed Broadband service for the Cheltenham area.
Pinnacle Technology Group plc, the AIM listed provider of cloud based technology solutions, is delighted to announce that it has successfully completed its testing of a new high-speed wireless broadband technology, which was offered to 15,000 users in the Cheltenham area. The trial delivered speeds up to 100Mbs, over distances of up to 6 kilometres utilising 5.8 GHz, whilst smartphone users received up to 20Mbs, utilising 2.4 GHz over distances of up to 1 kilometre.
Pinnacle transmitters were sited in the city centre and out towards the Racecourse, where tests were run to identify where the new service could be offered commercially. The service was installed by Pinnacle, whose customers include the BBC for outside broadcast connectivity and Cheltenham Festivals for connectivity and Wi-Fi.
The Company will now evaluate whether a new Cheltenham area commercial service should be offered. The new service would use high capacity fibre links to the Internet, allowing businesses and homes across the city to be connected in a variety of ways. Customers close to a main transmitter would be able to log onto the Pinnacle system direct from a computer, tablet, smartphone or other device. Others would be able to connect using a small Pinnacle receiver, making it possible to use the service at up to 5 miles from a Pinnacle base station.
