Guinness Peat Group plc

Application has been made to the London Stock Exchange and the UK Listing
Authority for a listing of 48,686,468 shares of 10p each of Guinness Peat
Group plc, in regards to the 1 for 10 Capitalisation Issue.

Application has also been made to the London Stock Exchange and the UK Listing
Authority for a listing of 3,714 shares of 10p each of Guinness Peat Group
plc, in regards to the scrip dividend alternative for the Final dividend, year
ending 30 December 2000.

The shares will rank pari passu in all respects with the existing issued share
capital of the company.
