Annual General Meeting

Guinness Peat Group plc ("GPG") announces that at its Annual General Meeting ("AGM") to be held in Auckland, New Zealand on 8 June 2011 at 2.15 p.m., Paul Forman, Chief Executive of Coats plc ("Coats"), a wholly owned subsidiary within the GPG Group, will give a presentation to shareholders on the performance and strategy of the Coats business.

The presentation will address the following key areas:

1)      The successful US$700m reorganisation and capital expenditure programme of the last five years which has reduced the cost base of the business, improved efficiencies and modernised its manufacturing and distribution infrastructure around the world;

2)      The strengthening of Coats' R&D, eCommerce and marketing functions to create a strong platform for future growth;

3)      Coats' unique market position based on its strong brands, diverse and established global footprint and unparalleled access to a wide range of manufacturers;

4)      Coats' strategy for future growth based on outstanding customer service, market-leading innovation and product and geographic expansion which has already had a positive impact on the 2010 financial results; and

5)      Current trading and outlook for 2011.
