Pursuant to Disclosure and Transparency Rule 3.1.4 Guinness Peat Group plc 
("GPG") announces the following change in directors' interests following an 
exercise of a share option over ordinary shares of GPG ("Shares").

On 29 June 2007, Blake Nixon exercised an option to acquire 673,662 Shares at a
price of 28.2056p per Share. These Shares have been registered on the New
Zealand branch register and Blake Nixon is now interested in 10,516,284 Shares,
which is 0.83% of GPG's issued share capital.
