Pursuant to Disclosure and Transparency Rule 3.1.4, Guinness Peat Group plc ("
GPG") announces the following change in directors' interests following an
exercise of share options over ordinary shares of GPG ("Shares").



On 29 August 2007, Graeme Cureton and Gary Weiss each exercised an option to
acquire 673,662 Shares at a price of 28.2056p per Share.  These Shares have been
registered on the Australian branch register.



Graeme Cureton is now interested in 3,126,541 Shares, which is 0.25% of GPG's
issued share capital and consequent total voting rights.  Gary Weiss is now
interested in 13,872,834 Shares, which is 1.09% of GPG's issued share capital
and consequent total voting rights.
