Guinness Peat Group plc
Guinness Peat Group plc ("GPG") announces that, following the closure today of
its offer to acquire shares in Gosford Quarry Holdings Limited ("Gosford"), GPG
now owns 52,025,448 shares which is 90.17% of Gosford's issued share capital.
Gosford is now a subsidiary of GPG.
Gosford is an Australian company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.
Gosford is Australia's largest producer of quality dimensional sandstone. It
owns and operates quarries throughout Australia in dimension stone, sandfill and
sand and gravel. It has an annual output of dimension stone of 8,000 cubic
metres and in excess of 600,000 tonnes of sand and gravel, and sandstone fill.
Gosford's gross assets at 30 June 2007 were A$65.8 million (£27.8 million) and
its net profit for the year to that date was A$0.7 million (£0.3 million).
Gosford has appointed GPG's Dr Gary Weiss and Mr Graeme Cureton to its Board.
