In accordance with the Rules Governing Substantial Acquisition of Shares, the
following is the text of a Disclosure sent today to the Company Secretary of
Quicks Group plc.
Disclosure of Interest in Shares Pursuant to Rule 3 of The Rules Governing
Substantial Acquisition of Shares: Addendum
Guinness Peat Group plc and its subsidiary companies ('the Group') hereby notify
Quicks Group plc ('Quicks') that following the market purchase of Ordinary 25p
shares ('Shares') on 18 January 2002 resulting in the increase in the Group's
interest in the Shares of Quicks to 8,018,762 representing 19.97% of the issued
share capital, on 21 January 2002 the Group acquired an additional 15,000 Shares
taking its total to 8,033,762 Shares representing 20.01% of the issued share
capital.
No member of the Group is party to any agreement or arrangement relating to the
exercise of any rights conferred by holding the shares subject to this
notification.
