Guinness Peat Group plc ("the Company") announces that it has been informed by Franklin Resources Inc. ("Franklin") that they made an error in their notification regarding their notifiable interest in the Company's shares reported by the Company to the market on 7 May 2008.  Franklin confirms its current notifiable interest over 71,691,861 ordinary shares (5.6%) and consequent voting rights in the Company.
