Cohort PLC 21 February 2008 21 February 2008 Cohort wins £9M research programme to support UK armed forces Cohort plc, a leading independent defence technical services business, is pleased to announce that one of its subsidiary companies, SEA, has been awarded a framework contract by the MoD's Defence Technology and Innovation Centre (DTIC), valued at circa £9M over three years, for the DTIC's Expeditionary Logistics & Support research programme. This programme is targeted at developing new techniques, processes and technology to support expeditionary operations by the UK armed forces. It covers an extremely broad range of capabilities from strategic mobility, theatre maritime, ground and medical sustainment. Efficient expeditionary logistics and support are critical to maintaining effective operations in such places as Afghanistan and Iraq. SEA's approach to managing the research programme, including open forums for the discussion of requirements and the pull through of innovative ideas to meet them will ensure that the DTIC gains maximum benefit from the knowledge and research activities of SEA and its broad team of participating companies. Nick Prest CBE, Chairman of Cohort plc, commented: 'We regard this as a key research programme that will benefit from SEA's ability to manage research well across a broad area with many interested parties. Following on the award of the Future Dismounted Close Combat (FDCC) research programme in 2007, it demonstrates the MOD's confidence in SEA to undertake these important research programmes.'
