SCS in new 4-year MoD LEAPP contract win
Cohort plc, the defence technical services group, today announces that its wholly-owned
subsidiary, Systems Consultants Services Limited (SCS), has been awarded a new, two-phase 4-year
contract for the UK Ministry of Defence's Land Environment Air Picture Provision (LEAPP). The
value to SCS from the initial phase, which concludes in April 2007, will be £500,000. Thereafter,
subject to MOD's decision to continue the project, there is the potential for further work
estimated at £5m for the period 2007 - 2010. By supplying a number of new hardware and software
elements, this project will provide a greatly enhanced Air Picture (a representation of the air
space above a battlefield) for the UK's land forces.
The contract award comes through the Lockheed Martin led Team Athena, of which SCS is an integral
part. Team Athena has been selected competitively as the LEAPP contractor. SCS's role within the
contract will be to provide technical and domain expertise, focusing on concept of operation and
operational matters; communication systems (including system concept and design); information
exchange requirements; sensor system concepts; system engineering and system analysis; planning,
management and execution of technology demonstrations; risk management; and bid and business
development support.
Additionally, SCS Mothership Ltd, a joint venture company 50% owned by SCS, has been awarded a
contract from Lockheed Martin to provide advanced 3D mapping, imagery and visualisation software
with data analysis for LEAPP. This initial contract will have a value of between £50,000 and
£250,000. There is the potential for further work estimated at between £1.3m and £3.0m for the
period 2007 - 2010, and a post delivery support package valued at £300,000 for the period 2011 -
2016.
Stanley Carter, Chief Executive of Cohort plc said:
"This is a tremendously exciting project and one for which our skills and expertise are aptly
attuned. We have built a strong and close relationship with Lockheed Martin and Team Athena
members through the support we have provided during a complex Assessment Phase. We are delighted
the MOD has selected Team Athena for this important programme and we look forward to continuing
our role into the development phase."
