Cohort SCS Wins £4.1 million MoD Airworthiness Contract

Cohort, the independent technology group, is pleased to announce that its subsidiary SCS has won a contract to provide airworthiness support to the UK MOD's Lightning Project Team (LPT), valued at £4.1 million.

The contract will run for two years from 1 July 2013, with options for two six-month extensions, and is intended to ensure that the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (Lightning II) is delivered into service as a safe and effective aircraft. To demonstrate the F-35 Lighting II's airworthiness to the UK authorities, the LPT requires independent expert technical support provided by Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) to reinforce certification, acceptance and integration. This work will be delivered under the new contract, through the technical support of up to 25 SCS SQEP experts across a wide range of disciplines.

Andrew Thomis, Chief Executive Officer, Cohort plc said:

"This is a valuable contract for Cohort which reinforces SCS's reputation for providing fast and responsive support. Despite the tight UK defence market the Group continues to make good progress on the back of its strong and relevant capabilities and established positions on some key long term UK MOD programmes.

"This order improves our revenue visibility for the current year, building on the position set out in our recent announcement of results for 2012/13."
