SEA awarded £11m contract to supply further External Communications Systems
Cohort, the independent technology group, is pleased to announce that its subsidiary SEA has been awarded a contract by BAE Systems, to provide two External Communications Systems for the Astute submarine programme, with a value of approximately £11m.
The two systems are intended for Astute Boat 6 (HMS Agamemnon) and the unnamed Boat 7. The contract builds on the work already under way to provide the same system for Boat 3 (Artful), 4 (Audacious) and 5 (Anson). SEA will work with its partners Aish Technologies Ltd, Selex ES and Thales UK to deliver these systems.
Andrew Thomis, Chief Executive of Cohort plc said:
"This is excellent news for SEA and the Group, and a further success for this important system. Nuclear submarines make a vital contribution to the defence of the UK, and SEA's External Communications System relays everything from family messages for the crew to critical mission orders. For SEA's technology to be used in such an important role is a clear demonstration of trust from our customer, and a testament to the skills and expertise of our engineers. This order improves our revenue visibility for the current year, building on the position set out in our recent announcement of results for 2012/13."
