COHORT PLC
SEA awarded over £5.5M TfL and Network Rail contracts
Cohort plc, a leading independent technical services business, is pleased to
announce that its subsidiary company, SEA Group, has been awarded contracts from
Transport for London (TfL) and Network Rail with a combined value in excess of
£5.5 million.
TfL's 4-year Framework contract (initially valued at over £3.5M) is for the
design, development, roll-out and operation of a new Digital Traffic Enforcement
System (DTES). DTES will replace TfL's current analogue traffic enforcement
system and reduce the cost of collecting, processing and storing evidence of bus
lane, parking and red route infringements, whilst improving the quality and
reliability of future enforcement operations. With the introduction of the
Traffic Management Act (2004) concerning the decriminalisation of moving traffic
offences, (due to become law in Spring 2008), there is the potential for
deployment of the DTES technology by other Local Authorities around the country.
The Network Rail contracts (circa £2M) are for a Signal Sighting Asset Data
Store (SSADS) and the automation of Signallers Forms (SF). SSADS will enable
Network Rail to improve the management of signal assets condition assessments
and the planning of signalling renewals. SF will provide Network Rail with a
more effective means of capturing, storing and disseminating information between
Signallers and other Operational third parties. Both contracts will run for a
period of 12 months.
Nick Prest CBE, Chairman of Cohort plc, commented: 'This is a good start to
2008. We are delighted to have been awarded these important contracts from two
such prestigious clients. They consolidate our position and provide an excellent
basis for further opportunities and developments within the Transport market.'
