Cairo, July 12th, 2015…We would like to announce that CIB and Legal and General are jointly disposing their stakes in Commercial International Life Insurance Company "CIL" to AXA for EGP 763 million.

With 161,000 employees serving 103 million customers, AXA is considered one of the leading global insurance players with a strong presence in 59 countries and an impressive track record of success in those markets and in partnerships with several banks.  

Such a decision comes in line with CIB's open architectural strategy and in continuation of the Bank's previously announced plan of gradually offloading all of its non-core banking activities.

CIL was originally established in 1998. Leveraging on the combined strength of its two respected shareholders, UK's Legal and General and Egypt's Commercial International Bank, CIL has risen to become one of the main players in the Egyptian life insurance industry.

Stemming from our conviction that our customers are our top priority, CIB will enter into a partnership with AXA whereby AXA will benefit from a 10-year exclusive distribution agreement with CIB in Egypt. The said alliance further cements CIB's commitment to its clients to continue to offer them excellent value-for-money insurance products.

Completion of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of regulatory approvals, and is expected to take place by the end of 2015.

Worthy to note that CI Capital has acted as the exclusive sell side financial advisor to Legal and General and CIB.

القاهرة في 12 يوليو 2015...يعلن البنك التجاري الدولي- مصر وشركة ليجال وجنرال Legal and General عن قيامهما سوياً ببيع حصتيهما في شركة التجاري الدولي  للتأمين على الحياة "CIL" وذلك إلى شركة AXA وبلغ إجمالي حجم الصفقة 763 مليون جنيه مصري. ومن خلال 161 ألف موظف يخدمون قرابة 103 مليون عميل تعد شركة AXA إحدى الشركات الرائدة عالمياً في مجال التأمين ولها تواجد قوى فى59 دولة.

وتأتى هذه الخطوة في إطار منهجية الـopen architecture  التي يتبعها البنك لتوفير خدمات غير مصرفية متنوعة لعملائه عن طريق شركات متخصصة في شتى المجالات على رأسها مجال التأمين وخطته الاستراتيجية في التخارج التدريجي من استثماراته في الأنشطة غير المصرفية.

وقد أنشئت CIL عام 1998 واستناداً على قوة مساهميها المخضرمين وهما ليجال وجنرال Legal and General والبنك التجاري الدولي- مصر أصبحت على مدار سنوات نشاطها إحدى الشركات الرائدة في مجال التأمين على الحياة في مصر.

وحيث أن مصلحة عملائنا تأتى في المقام الأول فقد قرر البنك إبرام اتفاقية تعاون مع AXA للتأمين يتم من خلالها منح الشركة حق الانتفاع الحصري لتقديم أجود وأفضل الخدمات التأمينية من خلال قنوات الاتصال الخاصة بالبنك مما سيعزز التزام مصرفنا بتقديم قيمة مضافة لعملائنا عبر استراتيجية التسويق المتبادل للأنشطة والخدمات التأمينية المتنوعة.

ومن المتوقع الانتهاء من كافة الإجراءات اللازمة لتنفيذ الصفقة والتي تتضمن الحصول على الموافقات اللازمة من الجهات الرقابية المختصة و ذلك بنهاية عام 2015.

وجدير بالذكر أن شركة سي أي كابيتال قد قامت بالعمل كمستشار مالي حصري لشركة ليجال وجنرال Legal and General والبنك التجاري الدولي - مصر .
