SAINTGOBAIN ANNOUNCES THE ACQUISITION OF MATERIAUX REUNIS (FRANCE)
The Building Distribution Division of Saint-Gobain announces the acquisition of
Materiaux Reunis (Caternet group), through its French subsidiary Point.P.
Materiaux Reunis is a general builders' merchant, based South-East of France. It
has achieved a turnover of nearly 98 million Euros (FF 640 million) in 2000 and
employs 650 people. It manages 30 outlets located in the French areas: Var,
Bouches-du-Rhone, Alpes-Maritimes and Vaucluse.
The company Materiaux Reums has a strong reputation based upon its network, its
services commitment and its efficient teams.
The acquisition is fully in line with Point.P bolt on strategy and completes its
regional business offer.
The Building Distribution Division of Saint-Gobain has achieved a
turnover of 9.7 billion Euros in 2000 and employs more than 43 000
people. It is the leading building materials distributor in Europe,
via its 2500 outlets in 13 countries. Its major brand names are Point.P,
Lapeyre, La Plateforme du Batiment, Jewson, Graham, and Raab Karcher.
