Pursuing its growth strategy, the Pipe Division of Saint-Gobain has reached an
agreement for the acquisition of the pipe manufacturing interests of the UK
Biwater group: Biwater Industries (Clay Cross).
Biwater Industries (Clay Cross) employs around 700 people and achieved a
turnover for 1999 of nearly £60 million operating from one plant in the
Midlands.
This acquisition will enhance the leadership of the Pipe Division in pipe-based
water distribution systems as well as the competitiveness of its product range
and services.
Completion of this agreement is conditional upon the approval of the relevant
competition authorities.
