Compagnie de Saint-Gobain 26 July 2001 Lady Jay appointed as a Director of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain Lady Sylvia Jay has been appointed as a Director by the Board of Directors of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, to replace Jacques-Louis Lions, following the latter's death on May 17, 2001. Lady Jay, 54, is Director General of the British Food and Drink Federation and is the wife of the British ambassador to France. She has previously held several positions as a senior British civil servant, in the Overseas Development Administration (ODA) and in secondment to the French Ministry of International Cooperation, the French Treasury and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Lady Jay's appointment strengthens the international diversity of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain's Board of Directors, which now includes four non-French Directors: Rolf-E Breuer, Chairman of the Management Board of Deutsche Bank, a German citizen, Paul Allan David, Professor of Economics at the universities of Stanford and Oxford, a U.S. citizen, Lady Jay, a British citizen, and Jose Luis Leal Maldonado, Chairman of the Spanish Banking Association, a Spanish citizen.
