    NOTIFICATION OF TRANSACTIONS OF DIRECTORS/PERSONS DISCHARGING MANAGERIAL
                      RESPONSIBILITY AND CONNECTED PERSONS



Compass Group PLC (the 'Company') announces that Sir Roy Gardner, Chairman, has
today increased his shareholding in the Company by the purchase of 25,000
ordinary shares each in the market at a purchase price of 310.0393p pence each
per share.

As a result of this transaction, Sir Roy Gardner now holds 200,000 ordinary
shares of 10 pence each in the capital of the Company.
