Concurrent Technologies Plc
Co-developed product with Thales Computers
Concurrent Technologies (the 'company'), a leading manufacturer of high-end
embedded computer products, announces the launch of a new computer product, VP
315-RC, a co-development with Thales Computers, as part of the company's joint
development agreement.
The VP 315-RC is a ruggedised conduction cooled VME single board computer
utilizing the 1.2GHz Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor together with Intel's
low-power and highly integrated 855GME chipset.
This is a highly rugged computer board which is aimed at the defence, homeland
security and transportation markets. The electronics and software were developed
by Concurrent Technologies and the ruggedisation was undertaken by Thales
Computers
The agreement with Thales Computers, made in April 2004, enables both companies
to go to market sooner with new products, while addressing a wider range of
customer needs. Thales Computers' patented RuggedizerTM technology is used to
transform the commercial version of a single board computer into a rugged
product.
Glen Fawcett, Managing Director, Concurrent Technologies, commented:
'There is a clear contribution to this project from both companies, thus
minimizing joint development risks. The result is a new product available to
both sets of customers who will enjoy an exceptionally rugged product that can
withstand very high shock and vibrations levels at extreme temperature ranges
and it does not require any airflow across the board.
'This type of product opens up new market opportunities for Concurrent
Technologies especially in the very harsh naval, military and transportation
environments.'
