Key CTO appointment
Corero Network Security plc (AIM: CNS), a leading provider of First Line of Defense® security solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of David Larson, previously Chief Technology Officer for Hewlett-Packard ("HP") Networking, to the role of CTO and Vice President, Product for Corero.
In this role, David will direct the Corero technology and product strategy as the Company continues to execute its plan to deliver next generation DDoS attack and cyber threat defence solutions for the Service Provider and Hosting Provider markets.
Earlier this year, Corero unveiled the SmartWall™ Threat Defense System (TDS) which enables Service Providers to deliver always on threat protection and visibility as a service to their customers. David will be tasked with the continued expansion of the SmartWall TDS, to deliver industry-leading DDoS and cyber threat protection to the Company's customers around the world. David will also charter the Corero Customer Advisory Council as a forum for the exchange of information on industry trends, business drivers, customer issues, and market opportunities, ensuring Corero product development priorities are aligned with customer needs.
David has significant experience in the network security, data communication and data centre infrastructure industries. Most recently, he served as Chief Technology Officer for HP Networking and Vice President of its Advanced Technology Group. In this role he was responsible for creating the vision and strategy for HP Networking across a variety of product divisions. David was instrumental in establishing HP's leadership in Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and under his leadership, HP created the category for SDN security applications. Previously, David served as Chief Technologist, security and routing products, for the Advanced Technology Group within HP Networking.
Prior to HP, David held the position of Vice-President of Product Strategy for TippingPoint, where he was instrumental in transitioning the business to develop a line of Next-Generation Firewalls. As Vice-President of Security Product Line Management for 3Com Corporation he defined the global security products strategy across R&D development facilities in the US, UK, and China.
