Corero Network Security and Kaspersky Lab sign Technology Partnership Agreement

Corero Network Security plc, the AIM listed network security and business software provider, is pleased to announce it has signed a licensing agreement with Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content and threat management solutions.  Under the partnership agreement, Kaspersky Lab will provide known malware signatures for inclusion in Corero's Intrusion Prevention ("IPS") solution.

Enterprise IPS customers demand that their IPS can detect and block transfers of known malware into their network. Leveraging Corero's fourth-generation IPS platform architecture, Corero's IPS enables enterprises, government entities, educational institutions and hosting providers to detect and preemptively block known and unknown advanced cyber threats, in an easy to deploy, use, and manage, standalone unit. To further strengthen the client-side protection offered by Corero's IPS, the company has integrated feature sets of the Kaspersky SafeStream II, a first-level anti-malware stream scanning technology for use with hardware pattern-matching engines to detect dangerous threats at wire speed.

Kaspersky's known malware signatures complement Corero's Three Dimensional Protection ("3DP") Platform to create an IPS solution with the broadest threat protection against known and unidentified threats. The platform includes:

§ A powerful protocol analysis engine, Corero's two-stage structure provides protection against remote exploits, worms and application-level attacks.

§ Differentiated transparent firewall filtering protects infrastructures against undesired access.

§ A three-stage distributed denial of service ("DDoS") defence engine, which protects against the effects of network-layer and application-layer DDoS attacks.

Kaspersky Lab's frequent updates and extensive malware signature library will further enable Corero to provide even stronger threat protection and fast response to its IPS customers.
