Further to the announcement issued earlier today under RNS number 7991A, the
Company is issuing the following correction: Mike Alexander spent 25 years at BP
and not 11 as previously stated.  All other details of the announcement remain
unchanged.  A full amendment appears below.



Board Changes


The Board of Costain is pleased to announce that it has appointed Mike Alexander
to the Board as an independent non-executive director, effective today.

Mike (59) was Chief Executive of British Energy plc between 2003 and 2005 and
prior to that Chief Operating Officer of Centrica plc, having held a number of
senior positions within British Gas plc including Managing Director, British Gas
Trading and Commercial Director, British Gas Exploration & Production.  Before
joining British Gas in 1991, he spent 25 years at BP plc in various roles.

Mike is a non-executive director of Associated British Foods plc and an
independent non-executive director on the Payments Council and has previously
held non-executive chairman positions at both GT Solar International Inc. and
Goldfish Bank Ltd.  He was also previously non-executive director of The Energy
Savings Trust Ltd.  There are no details to report in respect of Listing Rule
9.6.13 (2) to (6).

David Jefferies, Chairman of Costain, commented:

experience and knowledge of the energy sector will be a major benefit to the

The Company also announces that David Allvey and Mohd Hussein Hamid have been
appointed joint Deputy Chairmen with immediate effect.
