Crest Nicholson PLC
AGM Statement
At today's Annual General Meeting, John Matthews, Chairman of Crest
Nicholson PLC, made the following statement:
'At the time of the Preliminary results announcement in January, the
Board believed that prospects for the housing market were sound and
that Crest was ideally positioned to have another good year.
Since then interest rates have been reduced by a quarter of 1% but on
the negative side there has been some exceptionally wet weather which
has impeded building progress across the industry. Notwithstanding
this, the Board is pleased to be able to report that the business has
remained strong. Levels of reservations are healthy and the Group's
larger concept schemes are performing particularly well.
I am able to confirm that we remain optimistic about our prospects for
the current year.'
