        Appointment of Lloyd Wigglesworth as non-executive director

The Board of Crest Nicholson PLC is pleased to announce that Lloyd
Wigglesworth has been appointed a non-executive director of Crest Nicholson
PLC with immediate effect.

He is currently managing director of WHSmith News and a director of WHSmith
PLC. Since joining WHSmith in 1998, Lloyd's responsibilities with WHSmith
News have included logistics, trade marketing and IT. He is currently
implementing one of the largest SAP systems in Europe.  He is also Chairman
of Connect 2U, the WHSmith new joint venture business to business trading
portal for independent newsagents.

Commenting on the appointment, John Matthews, Chairman, said:

impressive business track record, public company experience and an in-depth
knowledge and understanding of e-commerce.  He will therefore have a very

Note to editors:

Prior to his appointment at WHSmith News, Lloyd was managing director of
EMAP Apex between 1996 and 1998, holding positions on the Boards of Apex,
Choice and EMAP Consumer Magazines.

Lloyd was Managing Director of Frontline from 1991 and 1995 before which he
was  managing director at the Dutch Meat Board (1987 to 1990).  Lloyd
started his career at Mars Confectionery holding a number of positions
between 1982 and 1987.

Lloyd, aged 41, is married with 2 children and lives in Wiltshire.  He was
educated at Bath University and is a trustee of Uppingham School.
