                           CRH plc ('the Company')

Application has been made for a total of 1,371,883 Ordinary shares of EURO
0.32 each ('shares') to be admitted to (a) the Official Lists of the Irish
Stock Exchange and the UK Listing Authority and (b) trading on the London
Stock Exchange Plc's market for listed securities.

Admission was granted on 6 December 2001 and trading will commence on 7
December 2001.

Of the 1,371,883 shares for which listing has been granted, 271,883 shares
have been issued under the Employee Share Participation Scheme. These shares
rank pari passu with the existing Ordinary shares.

The balance of 1,100,000 shares is being reserved under a block listing and
will be issued pursuant to the following schemes:

When issued these shares will rank pari passu with the existing Ordinary
