The Company has been notified by The Capital Group Companies, Inc. on behalf
of its affiliates, including Capital Guardian Trust Company, Capital
International Limited, Capital International S.A. and Capital International,
Inc. (together 'CGC'), pursuant to section 67 of the Companies Act 1990, that
as at 03 May 2001 CGC had an interest in 31,333,099 Ordinary Shares of CRH plc
representing 6.04 per cent of the Company's issued Ordinary Share Capital.
