SHARE REPURCHASE PROGRAMME

CRH plc announces that on 15th January 2008, UBS Limited purchased, on behalf of
the Company, 57,324 Ordinary Shares of €0.32 each in CRH plc at prices between
€22.53 and €23.618 per Ordinary Share.  The purchased shares will be held as
Treasury Shares.

Following the above transaction, CRH plc holds 592,299 Ordinary Shares in
Treasury.

The number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasury Shares) is
546,634,895.
