RE-ISSUE OF TREASURY SHARES 

CRH plc announces that on 8th October 2008 it transferred to participants in its employee share schemes 1,207 Ordinary Shares at €10.63 per Ordinary Share and between £7.18 and £15.68 per Ordinary Share.

Following the above transactions, CRH plc holds 16,543,085 Ordinary Shares in Treasury. The number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasury Shares) is 531,577,351.
