RE-ISSUE OF TREASURY SHARES 

CRH plc announces that on 17th December 2008 it transferred to participants in its employee share schemes 107,597 Ordinary Shares at prices between €10.63 and €18.28 per Ordinary Share and between £10.9945 and £15.68 per Ordinary Share.

Following the above transactions, CRH plc holds 16,218,983 Ordinary Shares in Treasury. The number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasury Shares) is 532,283,395.
