RE-ISSUE OF TREASURY SHARES 

CRH plc announces that on 21st January 2009 it transferred to participants in its employee share schemes 1,445 Ordinary Shares at €10.63 per Ordinary Share and at prices between £9.66 and £12.38 per Ordinary Share.

Following the above transaction, CRH plc holds 16,201,396 Ordinary Shares in Treasury. The number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasury Shares) is 532,300,982.
