RE-ISSUE OF TREASURY SHARES 

CRH plc announces that on 28th January 2009 it transferred to participants in its employee share schemes 6,052 Ordinary Shares at prices between €16.71 and €18.28 per Ordinary Share and between £9.66 and £16.07 per Ordinary Share.

Following the above transaction, CRH plc holds 16,195,344 Ordinary Shares in Treasury. The number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasury Shares) is 532,307,034.
