RE-ISSUE OF TREASURY SHARES 

CRH plc announces that on 1st October 2009 it transferred to participants in its employee share schemes 158,796 Ordinary Shares at prices between €11.8573 and €18.7463 per Ordinary Share.

Following the above transactions, CRH plc holds 13,698,291 Ordinary Shares in Treasury. The number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasury Shares) is 693,480,149.
