RE-ISSUE OF TREASURY SHARES 

CRH plc announces that on 21st October 2009 it transferred to participants in its employee share schemes 201,340 Ordinary Shares at prices between €11.8573 and €18.7463 and at prices between £8.7104 and £14.1386 per Ordinary Share.

Following the above transactions, CRH plc holds 13,178,452 Ordinary Shares in Treasury. The number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasury Shares) is 693,999,988.
