Chairman's AGM Statement

At the Company's AGM today the Chairman, Keith Hopkins, made the following
statement regarding trading:-

'I am pleased to announce that we have continued to make progress in the first
three months of this year. Our unaudited management accounts for the first
quarter show Group Profit before Tax 5% higher than the same period last year.
Profits in our Oleochemical business were up 6%.  This was a good result as
our export margins continued to be buffeted by the weakness of the Euro and in
the first quarter we suffered the expected start-up losses from our new plant
in Singapore.

Oleochemical sales in Sterling were over 4% higher with demand in the Americas
and Far East continuing to be strong.  While sales in mainland Europe are
showing good growth, our Industrial Chemicals sales continue to decline in the
very competitive UK market.'
