                    Sale of Fire Fighting Chemicals Business

Continuing the strategy of focussing on its core Oleochemicals business, Croda
International Plc announces the sale of its Fire Fighting Chemicals business to
Kidde Plc for a cash consideration of £4.4m.

The business, which employs 65 people is based in Kirkby in the UK and Amplepuis
in France.

The business had sales of £10.5m in the year to 31 December 2003 and the net
assets disposed of amounted to £4.6m.

The proceeds of the transaction will be used to reduce Group borrowings.
