                 Appointment of Mark Cropper as Deputy Chairman




The Company is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Cropper as Deputy
Chairman of James Cropper PLC with effect from 24 April 2008. Mark, 34 is the
sixth generation of the Cropper family to be involved in the business. He joined
the Board in 2006.

Mark is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority as a
corporate finance adviser with Turquoise International Limited. He specialises
in energy and environmental investment, having previously worked at Johnson
Matthey PLC as a fuel cell analyst. He is also a director of Ellergreen Hydro
Limited and Ellergreen Limited, James Cropper EBT Limited and was previously a
director of Riva Society GB Limited.

No further details regarding Mark Cropper are required to be disclosed to comply
with schedule two (g) of the AIM rules.
