Clarity Commerce Solutions plc
SUCCESS IN CLARITY'S RETAIL MARKETS
Clarity Commerce Solutions plc (AIM: CCS, 'Clarity'), a leading supplier of
management software and point of sale (POS) solutions to the retail industry, is
pleased to announce progress in the retail sector.
Clarity wins major retail contract with Dutch grocer
In a major three year deal, Clarity's retail division, MATRA, will provide POS
systems for Dutch grocer Schuitema in their estate of approximately 450
supermarkets. The Clarity-owned firm secured the contract ahead of several
other high profile vendors by demonstrating advanced promotions capability and
the adaptability of the software to meet rapidly changing retail business
requirements.
Schuitema, has long been at the forefront of in-store retail innovation in the
Netherlands, being one of the first to trial RFID technology. The MATRA Systems
POS solution - and the availability of the portfolio of wider Clarity Group back
office software and expertise - supports Schuitema's continued drive for
competitive edge.
Jaap Verjaal , IT Director at Schuitema, said:
'This deal with Clarity completes our point of sale proposition in our stores,
where we have in excess of 3,000 lanes. It gives us the opportunity to directly
access information about our store performance, enhancing productivity of store
management. It sets us apart in the highly competitive Dutch market and gives us
the opportunity to replicate our activities in other territories.'
Graham York, Clarity CEO, commented:
'This is another major strategic win for Clarity in the European retail market.
We have increased our presence on the continent and have shown that our products
have more agility and integration capabilities than our competitors. We were
fully supported and endorsed throughout the selection process by Capgemini,
originally the independent advisor to Schuitema.'
Martin van Vugt, Delivery Executive Retail at Capgemini, added:
'The MATRA POS solution was easily the best system for Schuitema's approximately
450 supermarkets, and met every criterion set.'
Clarity's retail division finish roll-out to Coop Denmark
The retail division, MATRA, has successfully completed the deployment of its
FREEDOM point of sale solution to Coop Denmark.
MATRA's FREEDOM point of sale solution has been rolling out to all of the Coop
Denmark formats (except Fakta) since 2006. The FREEDOM solution was selected
because of its ability to support the complex and demanding requirements of
different store formats and international stores in the rapidly changing grocery
environment. The FREEDOM product suite is an integrated multi channel retail
solution that encompasses point of sale, promotion management, loyalty,
electronic gift cards, centralised returns management and real-time data
channelling. It is installed at major retailers in the UK, US, Canada, Europe,
Scandinavia and South Africa.
Svend Endvoldsen, Senior Project Manager at Coop Denmark said:
'This is a tremendous milestone. Despite the differing formats and our
complicated promotional models, we have been able to install in over 860 stores
and 3400 lanes and are now operating with very low call levels . This a great
testament to the reliability and flexibility of the product and also to the
joint MATRA / Coop teams. We are already beginning to see the benefits of the
solution and are planning some major advances to our customer interaction
strategy over the next few years.'
Commenting on the deployment, Clarity's divisional Director Tony Houldsworth,
said:
'This deployment is particularly satisfying because of its scale and complexity.
I am delighted that we have lived up to the promises made during the selection
process and am looking forward to the next stage of their evolution.'
