Board Change


The Company announces that Steven Esom is to join the Board as a Non-Executive
Director with effect from today.

Steven Esom, 44, is Managing Director of Waitrose, the supermarket division of
the John Lewis Partnership.  Steven was appointed Managing Director in 2002
after six years as Director of Buying.  Prior to joining Waitrose, Steven spent
the major part of his career in various buying roles with J Sainsbury.

Charles Dunstone, CEO of Carphone Warehouse, said: 'Over the last ten years,
Steven has played a significant role in developing Waitrose into a very strong,
differentiated player in the UK grocery market.  We welcome his skills and
experience to our board.'

Steven Esom said: 'I am delighted to be joining the Board of Carphone Warehouse.
 It is an organisation that shares many of the values of the John Lewis
Partnership - particularly its focus on customer service and its determination
to invest for the long term.  I look forward to contributing to the business and
helping enhance its customer proposition.'

The Board is actively engaged in attracting an additional Non-Executive Director
and expects to make a further announcement in due course.

There are no further details in respect of this appointment required under LR
9.6.13 of the FSA Listing Rules to be disclosed.
