With effect from 30 April 2017, Lord Livingston will become the Chairman of Dixons Carphone plc as Sir Charles Dunstone steps down to allow him to take the role of Executive Chairman at TalkTalk plc. Sir Charles will step down from the Board but will remain as a senior advisor to the company.
Ian Livingston has been Deputy Chairman since joining the Board in 2015. Previously, he served as Minister of State for Trade and Investment and was CEO of BT Group plc from 2008 to 2013. Earlier in his career he spent more than a decade at Dixons Group including six years as CFO.
Tony DeNunzio CBE will become Deputy Chairman and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee also with effect from 30 April 2017, in addition to his current role as Senior Independent Director.
Sir Charles Dunstone said:
"I founded Carphone Warehouse 27 years ago and it remains a very important part of my life. It is now three years since we agreed the merger with Dixons and I am delighted with the way both companies have performed since. We have built a very strong management team and I have great confidence in their ability, so I know that the company has an exciting future. I remain a committed shareholder and, in my new role as a senior advisor, I will continue to take an active interest in the business and look forward to seeing many colleagues throughout the year.
I am delighted that Ian has agreed to take on the role of Chairman. He knows the company and the industry very well, is well-liked and respected by our management team and has been a voice of experience and support to the company since he joined our Board."
Lord Livingston said:
"I am proud to be appointed Chairman. It is a remarkable achievement by Charles to have grown this business from one store in the Marylebone Road to a business today that serves millions of customers across eleven countries and employs more than 42,000 people. I am delighted that he will remain very much connected with the business.
It is at an exciting time for Dixons Carphone. I look forward to working with the Board and Seb and his strong management team to continue to help our customers realise the best from new technology and the increasingly connected lives we all lead."
