The Carphone Warehouse Group PLC: Statement re Pre Budget Report



The Carphone Warehouse Group PLC ('The Carphone Warehouse') notes the revisions
to the tax legislation governing Controlled Foreign Companies incorporated in
the Chancellor of the Exchequer's pre budget report yesterday. Under the draft
legislation, certain profits from The Carphone Warehouse's insurance activities
that had previously been exempt from UK taxation will now be taxable.

It is provisionally estimated that the impact on The Carphone Warehouse's annual
tax charge arising from these changes will be an increase of approximately £2m
for the year ending March 2004.
